My uncle gets married on Friday. Thusly, I'm leaving my apartment today to travel 6 hours to San Antonio. I'll be glad to see my family.

My dad lost his job. One Year from retirement. A few guys took some grudges they had against him to my dad's bosses...and well, there you go. To add insult to injury his release was plastered all over the newspaper and the evening news. My dad was employeed by the county and all hiring/firings are public knowledge. His pride is wounded and now mom and dad are worried about retirement. He's 60 in august. Who would hire a 60 year old man at a comprobable salary? Even half? No one. It's going to be awfully rough seas back home.

Money is still tight. Wont' be out of this hole until maybe September. Can't wait for September.

Other than that - life is ok. I'll continue working at Borders until they give us a last day. Hopefully until late August that way I can start subbing. I'm going to ride it out in hopes of using Borders as a jumping board into the book world. I realize my choices are few now - B&N being basically everyones only choice.... but perhaps Half Price Book will be hiring soon. Perhaps even full time? *shrug* we shall see where eventhing lands.

That is exceptionally despicable of your dad's coworkers to do that just a year shy of his retirement. What line of work was he in?
